Your ABC Communications Spam Assassin junk mail filter comes
already trained with some of the most common forms of spam in its
memory. What you may find useful though is that your spam filter is
completely trainable. Think of it like a family pet. If you have mail
coming in that is spam, you can login to your webmail and tell your
filter to identify it as spam.
Go into your inbox in the webmail and find the message that is
something you want to have considered spam. Click on the message and
you will see 2 options near the top - SPAM and NOT SPAM. Click on SPAM
and your filter will look at the various details of this email and
remember them for your profile.
Alternatively if you think you
might have had a piece of valid mail caught as spam you can look in the
spam folder in your webmail site. This folder stores the last 7 days of
messages for you. Find the valid piece of mail in that folder and click
on NOT SPAM. Your filter will remember this so that you shouldn't have
any further emails from that sender caught.
As mentioned your
filter doesn't need your input but the more you train it the smarter it
will become. You may see results well over 99% accuracy which will make
your life much easier.
