The projects led by Falko Kadenbach, Vice President of ABC Communications, were made possible with the support of the Province of British Columbia and ABC Communications.

The project engineering has started with construction slated for late June and an estimated completion by summer 2021. These network improvements benefit over 1000 rural British Columbians and provide increased speeds and network performance.

The project criteria set by the provincial government was to supply 50 Mbps services to these communities. ABC expects that these LTE systems will be upgradable into the future through software feature releases allowing for even faster services in the future.

ABC will carry on with this project through the summer. The added complexity to deliver the project will be challenged by the current COVID 19 pandemic. Working on remote sites will be easier for our staff than working on sites that are in closer proximity to populations. With good policy and procedures in place we will be able to deliver these essential services to British Columbians.”, added Falko Kadenbach.

“COVID-19 has made high-speed internet more important than ever in our lives, from being able to work from home, to connecting with the people we care about. I am so pleased to see ABC Communications is moving forward on work to upgrade network performance in 11 B.C. communities,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Citizens’ Services. “This project will make life a bit easier for people and provide new opportunities to learn from home, unwind after a long day and do business with clients around the world.”

Kadenbach added, “Once we complete projects like these and commission the systems with 50 Mbps service packages. It’s a real jump for the regions and we expect that the residents will be very happy with the new services. Our fixed wireless services differ from other terrestrial service because they are built to deliver more dedicated services to the user. These services paired with our Voice and TV solution provide our customers a total package.”
