Outlook 2003

STEP A

1.       On the main screen of Outlook 2003, please click the Tools option near the top left hand corner.

STEP B

1.       Once you have clicked tools a list of options will appear, please click the option labeled as “E-mail Accounts…”

STEP C

1.       A new window will appear, in this window, please click the first option labeled “Add a new e-mail account”.

2.       Then press the next button.

STEP D – POP3 CONFIGURATION (SKIP TO ‘STEP M’ FOR IMAP CONFIGURATION)

1.       On this screen, please select POP3 as the server type.

2.       Then click the next button.

STEP E

1.       On this screen, click the first empty box next to “Your Name:” and enter in your First and Last name (e.g. “John Doe”).

2.       Click the blank box next to “E-mail Address:”, enter in your ABC Communications email address (e.g. “someone@netbistro.com”).

3.       Click the blank box next to “User Name:” , enter in your ABC Communications email address (e.g. “someone@netbistro.com”).

4.       Click the blank box next to “Password:” , enter in your email password, also click the “Remember password” button directly underneath it.

5.       Click the blank box next to “Incoming mail server (POP3):” and enter in “mail.abccomm.com”

6.       Click the blank box next to “Outgoing mail server (SMTP):” and enter in “smtp.abccomm.com”

7.       Click the “More Settings…” button to continue.

STEP F

1.       A new window appears; please click the tab labeled “Outgoing Server” to continue.

STEP G

1.       In the “Outgoing Server” section, please click the check box next to the words “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and ensure the dot next to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” is filled in as well.

STEP H

1.       In the white box next to the words “Incoming server (POP3):” , please ensure the number in it is 995.

2.       Leave the tick box next to the words “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)” empty.

3.       In the white box next to the words “Outgoing server (SMTP):” , please delete the number 25 and replace it with 587.

4.       Please tick/fill in the box next to “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”. Sometimes this may change the number you changed in step 3, ensure it still reads as 587.

5.       Please tick/fill in the box labeled “Leave a copy of messages on the server”

6.       Please tick/fill in the box next to the words “Remove from server when deleted from ‘Deleted Items’”.

7.       Click the OK button.

STEP I

1.       Once you clicked the ok button in the last step it goes back to the screen from STEP E. Please click the “Test Account Settings…” button.

STEP J

1.       The “Test Account Settings” window will appear, all green check marks indicate no errors and successful configuration of the account. Please click the “Close” button here.

STEP K

1.       Once the “Test Account Settings” window has been closed, it goes back to the screen from STEP E. Please click the next button on the bottom right now.

STEP L

1.       Setup has been completed! You may now click the “Finish” button in the bottom right.

STEP M – CONFIGURATION DETAILS FOR IMAP

This part of the guide is solely for IMAP Setup and can be ignored if previously setup in POP3.

1.       Please click the circle next to the word “IMAP” in order to choose IMAP as your server type.

2.       Please click the “Next” button.

STEP N

1.       Click the white box next to the words “Your Name:” and enter in your First and Last name (e.g. “John Doe”).

2.       Click the white box next to the words “E-mail Address:” and enter in your ABC Communications email address (e.g. “someone@netbistro.com”).

3.       Click the white box next to the words “User Name:” and enter in your ABC Communications email address (e.g. “someone@netbistro.com”).

4.       Click the white box next to the words “Password” and enter in your email password, once the password has been entered click the tick box directly underneath labeled “Remember password” to prevent having to re-enter the password every time you check for email.

5.       Click the white box next to the words “Incoming mail server (IMAP):” , enter in “imap.abccomm.com”.

6.       Click the white box next to the words “Outgoing mail server (SMTP):” , enter in “smtp.abccomm.com”.

7.       Click the “More Settings…” button to continue to the next step.

STEP O

1.       A new window appears; please click the tab labeled “Outgoing Server” to continue.

STEP P

1.       In the “Outgoing Server” section, please click the check box next to the words “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and ensure the dot next to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” is filled in as well.

STEP Q

1.       Click the tab labeled “Advanced” to show the extra configuration settings.

2.       Fill the tick-box next to the words “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)”.

3.       Click on the tick-box next to the words “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)” to fill it in.

4.       Click on the white box next to the words “Incoming server (IMAP):” and replace the number 143 with the number 993.

5.       Click on the white box next to the words “Outgoing server (SMTP):” and replace the number 25 with the number 587.

6.       Click the “OK” button to proceed.

STEP R

1.       Back at the “Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP)” screen, please click the “Next” button in the bottom right.

1.       You have completed the setup! You may now click the “Finish” button in the bottom right.
